This really is a great product !! I tried everything regarding shaving, Multi-blades, single blade everything! And i came across this shaver, and what struck me so odd about it, is that its a wet/dry shaver. I really enjoy this razor, i use it everyday in the shower with all my shaving creams! I get a great against the grain shave, very smooth! And i’ve never been able to shave against the grain. It dosen’t get all the hairs on the neck area and all, but it’s nothing to have a little dissposible razor to get a few missed hairs. The trimmer dosen’t really do much for me. because i don’t have a goatee or anything. And it does seem sort of flimsy. The Charger/cleaner is good, its loud but good. I seem to think that just rinsing it in the shower does just as good if not better of a job, but i think maybe the cleaning base may have some “sterlizing” properties that are good for a clean shave. Over all this is a good product, and will buy again when my wears out.

The ES7056S Vortex Triple Blade offers outstanding shaving features and our innovative HydraClean Shaving System. Like all Panasonic shavers this unit is wet/dry so it can be used with lather, in the convenience of your shower, or on the go. The triple blade shaving system is equipped with our sharpest blades (30 °) for close high performance shaving. The head pivots so it follows the contours of your face and is extremely comfortable. A pop-up trimmer is accessible with the push of a finger for grooming moustaches and sideburns. The three stage battery monitor lets you know how much charge is remaining at all times. Charging and cleaning the unit is easy and quick with the HydraClean System. This intelligent base includes automatic charge, clean, and dry functions. All these functions can be used together or independently. This system uses a water/detergent infused cleansing process instead of hazardous alcohol for safe effective cleaning of the razor.

Excellent Shave - likeablelarry - San Diego Shaver works very well and provides an excellent shave. The only surprise is that shaver needs to be plugged out while operating. I wonder why? But it works well as a cordless so alright with me. Top Notch shaver.
Works great! - S. Corbett - Wisconsin I bought this shaver for shaving my head and it works great…probably takes a little longer than using the traditional method, but, I don’t cut my head either! I just sit in front of the T.V. and have at it…usually done in 10-15 minutes, depending how long I go between shaves. I would recommend this item to anyone look for a good shaver at a fair price.
a disappointment for sure… - Noddy - Bought this in February of 2008 so it is ~20 months old right now. No longer holds a charge for more than a day or two. Have to leave it on constant charge to be sure of being able to use it. Since new it has often refused to start if switched off in the middle of a shave and quickly turned back on. Setting it in the charger for a couple of minutes required to get it going again. Battery technology in this thing was obviously not a strong point and not at all what I expected for a fairly expensive (at time of purchase) shaver. Cleaning cycle does not always dry the shaver properly. The smell of the shave head after cleaning isn’t the greatest - not at all fresh smelling the way I expected. Cleaning cycle not sufficient to deep clean razor - manual brushing and rinsing is still required periodically. Slow shaving and have to go over and over a couple of places on my neck, probably go over everything 2-3 times routinely. Some neck hairs almost never do actually get cut. Will probably throw this out when I am finished with the last few cleaning cartridges I have on hand. Very disappointed in this shaver.

Over the years I have tried many electric shavers from Braun, Philips/Norelco, Panasonic and others. It would always come down to the same thing: - you have to go over the same spot multiple times to get it smooth and in the process of doing so the skin becomes red / inflamed. Wearing a shirt with a collar afterwards is torture let alone wearing a tie!!!! - I then had to use all kinds of soothening lotions to get the skin to cool down and could not shave for several days - hairs would become ingrown and infect under the skin after a while - the electric shaved would never really get clean and clog up, more so the sink looked discussing after cleaning
Result: I’d run back to the latest in manual wet shaving under the shower: Mach III or Fusion etc.
I purchased this because of the airline security rules re liquids etc on board. Every time I would have to hand over my foam and lotions and in some cases even my aftershave.
So I read up on what electric shavers would work to remedy all the above. The Braun and Panasonic come close and I decided on the Panasonic ES8228S (recolored version of the ES8109S, otherwise mechanically identical). The reason I did not take the Braun is that I like the shaving under the shower, in front of my fog free mirror.
My skin has fully adapted and I certainly do not have the inflamed skin -rash I had with other brands. With Lectric Shave it is actually similar in feeling to a wetshave and I really feel just as closely shaved. I have a heavy heavy beard growth and believed on hand wet shave could remedy but that is not true!
Secondly, it shaves close. People say as close as a wetshave and I tend to agree that it comes VERY close to that. I have shaved against the growth direction with wet shavers all my life (otherwise I can’t get anything smooth) and this can NEVER be accomplished with an electric shaver, I think, however, this can shave you smooth but probably not as “deep” under the skin line as a wet shave would. Close enough NEVER to want to go back to a regular wet shave. However, the shave is very close and close enough to look as smooth (but not feel) as a through close wet shave.
The shaver works under the shower and that is bliss. I can combine my shower routine with a shave, like I am used to! Love that. Also, when using cheap shaving foam it works great as well. Not that the shave is closer but it helps my skin and a smooth glide. Especially combined with a short Lectric Shave spray before hitting the showers I can get myself baby smooth.
Finally, the cleaning station is a very hygienic method of cleaning. No tiny hairs in the foils or sink, definitely a welcome addition. The cartridges are also VERY affordable and last about 3 months a piece. Worth it!
Also note that this shaver works in 110v to 220v outlets and you can simply plug the electric cord from the cleaning unit in the back of the shaver when travelling.
Conslusion: not as perfect as people state but certainly very close to a wet shave (but not fully there). Final thought: this is indeed a ‘pretty’ version of the ES8109S which you can get for around 100$. The 60$ extra I paid is for the wood and gold trim.
UPDATE: the hair trimmer / clippers on these tend to die over time. Mine did on the ES8228 and subsequently on a new ES8109. Even on my wifes 8077 (for her legs!) it happened. Bad clipper = minus 1 star.

One of the best ….. BUT - M. Brown - Connecticut, USA I have used them all . . . Panasonic, Norelco, Braun, Remington, and like the Panasonic best . . . I have owned three. My first Panasonic was their ES8152. After that, I purchased another ES8152. By the time I was ready for yet another replacement, Panasonic had introduced their Pro-Curve models and I purchased the ES8109 (from Amazon, almost 2 years ago). The ES8109 continues to be my favorite, BUT I do have one gripe. It appears that the new pro-curve technology has introduced a lot of noise. If you have never used their older models, this may not be a major factor for you but, by comparison, it is LOUD. I wish the ES8152 was still available. It was whisper quiet.
Panasonic es8109 - R. Mcdonald - birmingham,al This is the best electric shaver i have owned..Have been using electric shavers for about 10 years and this one does not leave your face or anywhere irritated..others seem to do a good job but pull and leave skin with a burning feeling, not this one.For the money a very good buy so far if it last’s..

I just purchased this new razor from Panasonic. I got tired of hair left on my face that neither the Braun Pulsonic 7 or the Norelco Arcitec couldn’t get. My family always tell me about the long hairs that were missed and the constant strokes over the same spot to get a reasonably close shave from the competition. The new Panasonic worked well out of the box. It took 60 minutes to charge it. All I had to do was fill a little water tank with water and slide in the cleaning pack. It couldn’t be any easier. My Panasonic was now ready to give me the closest shave I have ever had. I bought some Edge shave gel for sensitive skin, put some warm water on my face and applied the gel. The shaver did the rest. The trimmer worked perfectly and had no problem cutting my sideburns evenly and straight. I haven’t used a shaving gel for a long time but the results were remarkable. It zipped through my beard and didn’t leave any uncut hairs.. Clean up was simple too. I just rinsed off the shaving creme from the heads and placed in the hydroclean system. I had to set the clener for clean, dry and charge and my razor is now ready for my next visit. This razor might be pricey but well worth the price. Panasonic makes tremendous products and this one lives up to it’s reputation. While the Braun and Norelco were ok, this was super!!! Don’t hesitate to buy this unit with Hydraclean…it works and it will save you time cleaning your new razor.
After 5 shaves, this is still the best shaver I have ever had. I have tried quite a few electric razors and this one tops the list.
It’s 3 weeks since I started using this razor. I still think it is terrific. I opened the razor last night and found that it was perfectly clean. I have no problem with the hydra clean system so far. By this time I had problems with the norelco arctic and the Braun top of the line razors but none so far with this panasonic unit. I didn’t pay 0 for this. I had a coupon for 20% off at a different internet retailer. I know it’s alot of money but so far its worth it. I bought my son-in=law a top of the line Panasonic about 6 years ago. He replaced the blades and the screen and the shaver just died a couple of weeks ago. If this lasts that long, it will be worth the money. It is now more than a month since I purchased this shaver and the shaves are getting even better. You don’t have to press hard and the closeness of the shave is incredible. As for the cleaner, it does a very effective job, just rinse the shaving creme off the top which takes seconds and put it in the auto cleaner. The razor comes out like brand new. I have opened the razor after cleaning to see that it is spotless. I was really suprised. I haven’t changed the cleaning solution yet because I am waiting for the indicator light to go on. The auto cleaner is definitely worth the money. It saves alot of time.

Customer Reviews
Worthwhile Upgrade - Doc H - Upgraded from my Panasonic ES8249 (previously reviewed), and it was worth the upgrade. I paid about half the retail at one of Amazon’s partners, so I encourage shopping around; I’m not sure it’s 0+ better than the 8249 if you pay full freight. Basically the same function as the 8249 - water-based cleaner, cleaning unit buttons function the same, same cleaning cartridges (a nice touch), wet-dry shave. The head is very large, but is easy to manipulate when you get used to it. Shaver seems to be slightly less noisy than the 8249 when in use; the cleaning unit is definitely noisier in the first few minutes of its cycle, but essentially the same when the blower comes on. It takes longer for the clean/dry cycle than the 8249 - haven’t timed it but I would guess maybe 20% longer (well over an hour). The lock button on the back is a little more difficult to operate than other Panasonic shavers I have owned and is somewhat stiff, but looks fairly sturdy. One complaint about the Panasonics is that you can’t use them as a corded shaver (maybe the result of fear of lawsuits for shaving in the shower with a cord attached!), but operationally to me this doesn’t matter, and it charges within an hour. The batteries in this model last longer than the 8249 - guessing maybe 20% longer on a full charge. The bottom line - this shaver gives me the closest shave I have had from an electric shaver, and the wet shave is definitely the most comfortable.
Same as model ES-LA63-s - Xenosaiyan - California, USA I will say this straight up, that this model is very close the es-la63-s, but this has the cleaning kit and the other model does not.
The first thing I should say is that you can get as close as you want. Closer than a blade, because with a blade if you add pressure, you get nicks and cutes.
Do you want to get so close that your skin will feel extremely raw? Do you want to get even further beyond where you start bleeding? Even further beyond, I’ve gotten so close that I’ve taken out my epidermis, my skin is raw to the bone and I have no hair, smoother than a babies behind; their legs.
How quick is the shave? Well if you just want a quick shave, this thing will give it to you. I got a good shave in less than a minute. At 14,000 micro-vibrations you can basically get a good shave in a minute. Very fast, very quick, very impressive. The head is huge, so that means you can cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time.
Do you want a comfortable shave? Dang, this thing is very very comfortable. It felt like I was rubbing my face with a cloud. Yes, the blades spin that fast that it feels like you’ve got some kind of cloudy heat pad on your face. Rubbing it up and down, no irritations, very comfortable. Now if you shave for a while, it will get hot. And, if you shave for a while, your skin will get raw and a little irritated. All depending on how close you want to get. Basically, you want get any irritations if you shave quick; for those with sensitive skin, do not shave for a long period of time. This shaver is very good for sensitive skin.
Does it clean? Yes, put liquid soap on the top, run for a few seconds, and run it under the water. The shaver comes with instructions on how to properly clean. I will also take the top off and rinse off the blades; accidentally hit the blades to the sink while they were on; ouch. It still works though. Then soak the top in alcohol if you want, or set to dry.
It has an LCD screen that tells you how long you have been shaving. And, don’t worry about dropping it because it has an incredible grip.
Last comments, don’t shave in the shower, you can if you want, but my experience was that the water slowed down the blades and couldn’t get a good shave. You can use shaving cream to shave though, the blades won’t slow down unless you run it through water which includes the shower. Also, my hair type is fast growing hair, not very rough or tough, but still a bit of a challenge. This blade didn’t slow down when cutting my hair.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!
